Perhaps one of the essential things to master is potty training toddlers. However, there are more and more parents who are being faced with this dilemma every day, and not only can it test your patience, but it can also be hard to master, as a child will not understand what you are trying to do with them. It’s a new adjustment for both children and parents, and cleaning up accidents and smelly messes is not fun at all. Your child may be one of the many that throws tantrums and refuses to go number 2 but will have no issue with going number 1.
One of the many things you can do is to make up a reward sheet for your child. This doesn’t have to be hard and can simply mean taking a large piece of paper and making squares for stickers to be placed. This can be encouragement for your child and also helps them to feel like they are being rewarded for a job well done.
You can also try to reinforce to your child that going to the potty is the only method. When you are thinking of potty training your toddler, tell them that they should use the toilet and tell them that that is where they go. Show them the toilet and maybe take them when you go. Learn their signs of when they have to go and try to catch them before they go in their pants.
Potty training toddlers can be easy if you know the proper steps to take, and when you are ready to start, know that you should never pressure them too much. Applying too much pressure to them will be overwhelming and will only make it take that much longer than if you were to go at their pace. Every time they do go, make sure you congratulate them and give them that high five as well.
