You’re sure to miss many things once your baby grows up, but changing dirty diapers isn’t likely to be one of them. Potty training is something almost every parent is eager to get through as quickly as possible. You can ensure your own toilet training success by starting with the right set of potty training tips.
Boys tend to be more difficult than girls when it comes to toilet training. The key to finding early and immediate success is to initiate potty training when your little man is truly able to do so. The worldwide average for potty training is 18 months, but the average in this country is nearly twice that. So know that if you’re ready, they probably are as well.
Once your son is ready, establish a potty training routine that makes it simple to start early and finish strong. Potty train your child by following these simple potty training tips (boys as well as for girls):
Boys love to watch and learn. Children learn by imitation, so make sure that watching you use the restroom is a natural first step for your child. Your son may notice that Daddy uses the potty differently from Mommy. This provides an excellent opportunity for your son to see how boys use the potty.
Buy the right equipment. Get your son his own potty. This will make him feel more secure than he will with a grown-up sized toilet. When buying a potty training chair for your boy, find one with an easily removable urine guard (or without one at all). Don’t forget to buy or make a potty training chart to help him visualize his success!
Read your way to toilet training success. Pick up a few potty training picture books or videos for your son to watch throughout the day. This will make it easier for him to grasp the new information you’re trying to deliver.
(Number One and Two it! is an in-house potty training classic!)
If you’re trying to toilet train your toddler, you need the best possible potty training tips. Boys, girls, moms and dads – we all need a little help sometimes. Get started, you’ll be glad you did!
