Hi, we’re Sean and Cindy Platt, the people behind Potty Training Power.

That’s all four of us. Sean is a parenting writer and Cindy is a twenty year veteran teacher with a specialty in early childhood education. The two cute children you see in the photo were our very first test subjects at potty training.

Soon, we were training classrooms full of children at our preschool, The Kinder Garden Platt Family Preschool, where our motto was “Start Early, Finish Strong.”

Our preschool was based on the philosophy that everyone is a student and learning starts at birth. This philosophy not only ensured that even our one year olds could spell their names, it also helped establish the early habits that make fluid training fully possible.

Potty training isn’t magic, it’s a process.

You must start with a strategy, then proceed with the will to make it happen. Anyone who says potty training can be completed in a single day (or even three) and without fail, probably isn’t painting an accurate picture.

However, with a proper plan, certainty in your method, and the conviction to see things through, not only will your efforts be successful, you will have an enriching period of bonding for the entire family.

We have seen plenty of families unnecessarily struggle through the process, first with our preschool and then with family after family over the last six months. In 100% of the cases, issues were quickly solved by sharpening a few of the tools every parent already carries in their own parenting tool box.

Destinations are easier to find when you have clear direction.

There are step-by-step instructions available for everything from giving birth to burping babies, yet for some reason it seems that literature on potty training is scant at best. Offline and online it’s easy to find personal opinions and random hearsay, but concrete plans with proven results can feel like buried treasure at best.

Helping parents in our preschool was easy. We just looked them in the eye and spoke bluntly about what needed to be done. They listened to our advice, went home and applied it, then came back after the weekend with an accident free child. We wanted our system to apply the same powerful principles made possible by the banter on the front porch of our preschool, combined with the connective power of technology. How did we do this?

By focusing on what helped us to train our toddlers so successfully in the first place: crystal clear communication.

The Potty Training Power System was born!
